1. Our commitment

Find My SDA exists to help people with disability find a home that suits them. Accessibility is not an add-on for us, it is the point. We are committed to making this website usable by as many people as possible, including people who are blind or have low vision, are Deaf or hard of hearing, have limited mobility, or have cognitive or learning disabilities, and people who use assistive technology such as screen readers, screen magnifiers, voice control or keyboard-only navigation.

We also know that the people who use this site often do so with the help of a family member, nominee, support coordinator or provider, and we design with that in mind.

2. The standard we aim for

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA. This is the standard referenced by Australian government accessibility guidance. We are actively working towards it and improving the site over time. We have not yet completed a formal independent audit, so we do not claim full conformance, but we treat any barrier you find as something to fix.

3. What we do to make this site accessible

Steps we take include:

  • Writing meaningful, structured headings so screen readers can navigate the page
  • A “skip to content” link so keyboard users can jump past the menu
  • Keyboard access to menus, forms and buttons, with a visible focus outline
  • Text alternatives (alt text) for meaningful images
  • Labels on form fields, and clear error messages when something needs fixing
  • Colour that is not the only way information is conveyed, and readable contrast
  • A responsive layout that reflows when you zoom in or use a small screen
  • Plain, jargon-light language wherever we can

4. Assistive technology

We aim to support current versions of common assistive technologies and browsers, including screen readers (such as VoiceOver, NVDA and TalkBack), browser zoom and magnification, and keyboard-only and voice navigation. If something does not work with the tool you use, please tell us, real feedback from people using assistive technology is the most useful thing we can get.

5. Known limitations

Some parts of the site use third-party features, such as interactive maps and Google address search, whose content we do not fully control and which may not yet meet Level AA. Where these appear, we try to provide a straightforward alternative (for example, you can type an address manually instead of using the map or search). We are working to reduce these gaps. If one of them stops you from doing something, contact us and we will help you complete it another way.

6. Getting information another way

If you cannot access something on this website, we will help you get the same information or complete the same task another way: over the phone, by email, or in a format that works better for you. There is no charge for this. Just contact us using the details below and let us know what you need.

7. Tell us about a barrier

If you run into an accessibility problem: a page a screen reader cannot read, text that is too small, a form you cannot complete, or anything else, please tell us. It helps to include:

  • The page address (the web link) where it happened
  • What you were trying to do
  • The device, browser or assistive technology you were using, if you know

You can send this through our feedback form (choose “Report a bug”), or contact us directly using the details in section 9. We aim to acknowledge accessibility reports within 5 business days and will let you know how and when we expect to fix the issue.

8. Ongoing improvement

Accessibility is ongoing, not a one-off. We review the site as we add features, act on the feedback we receive, and update this statement as things change. This page was last reviewed on 31 July 2026.
